it is the beginning of the new year, and what a better way to celebrate this than with good company and a drink or two.

The drink will be held on Wednesday, 7 Januari 2015, starting at 20:30. As usual, the drink will be at café De Twee Heeren, Platielstraat 17-19, Maastricht. We have our own room upstairs, you can get there by taking the door on the right side of the cafe, or on the left side of the bar (you might have to ask a bartender to open the door for you).
Beer, as usual, is a coin each. 1 coin is 1.50, but you can also get 4 coins for 5 euros (1.25 each)

Pub Crawl

Starting inside Peter’s Irish Pub on the markt at 20:30 on the 3rd December where TasKE will be waiting. we shall traverse this fine city of ours and hopefully discover places new and interesting for you.

Slacklining Workshop for Beginners

Slacklining is a practice in balance that typically uses nylon or polyester webbing tensioned between two anchor points. Many people suggest slacklining is distinct from tightrope walking in that the line is not held rigidly taut (although it is still under some tension); it is instead dynamic, stretching and bouncing like a long and narrow trampoline.

This workshop is for people who are curious about slacklining and want to try it out. It’s inside at the gym with thick maths underneath the line, so ultra safe!

Tyas Prevoo will be our instructor. He has been doing the sport for almost 10 years. Tyas is a really cool guy and a good teacher 🙂 He’s also one of the first people who started slacklining in the Netherlands. Very qualified 😀

From the 28th of November till the 30th of November Incognito organizes MysteryLAN 2014 for all students on the Department of Knowledge Engineering. Here you get a chance to show off your epic and nerdy game skills during a weekend full of gaming! You might even win some of the prizes!

This weekend starts on Friday after the lectures at Maasboulevard 1, 6211 JW, Maastricht and we will start cleaning up Sunday in the afternoon.

The subscription fee for the LAN party is €15 for members.

Archery

Now that some of you have gotten somewhat skilled with the sword during the introduction weekend, it is now time to test your abilities with the bow and arrow.

This will take place on Monday the 6th of October.

It is highly recommended to come by bike since the shooting range is rather far away. We will be leaving at the Koningin Emmaplein around 18:30, so let’s meet there at 18:25.

eventually we will make our way here.

It is still possible to come by foot but it will take you some time to get there.

The prices are €7,50 for members and €8,50 for non-members. please bring this money in cash.

Poker night

It is time to get your gameface on and put your newly acquired knowledge from your maths subjects to the test.
On the 23rd of September we will be having a casual poker night at our usual spot, upstairs at De Twee Heeren at 20:00.

The price will be 1 euro for members and 2 euro for non members.
We will supply some snacks and special prices for the winners. For drink however you will have to go downstairs and get it at the bar.

introduction weekend

At the end of September, Incognito will have this year’s Introduction Weekend! From Friday the 26th of September until Sunday the 28th of September, we will spend a weekend in a land far far away to get to know each other a little bit better and hopefully make a lot of bff’s 😀

This year, we have an awesome theme connected to it: Faction Wars! This means that you will be able to fight for your faction and earn valor and recognition.

The different universes that factions competing in Faction Wars will be from are:
-The Lord of the Rings
-Harry Potter
-World of Warcraft
-A Song of Ice and Fire
-Star Wars

Don’t worry about the entire weekend being full of role-playing, though; this is just the theme we decided to set the camp up with. The goal of the camp is to get to know each other and have fun! In this same spirit, there will also be no strange initiation rituals!

The price for this weekend is 30 euro for Incognito Members and 40 for non-Incognito members. You will be able to register for the weekend by going to http://www.msvincognito.nl/incognito/introweekend/ and filling out the form.

We still need cars to be able to get to the weekend! If you have a car and/or a driver’s license, let us know! Transportation costs will of course be covered by Incognito.

the year is over, it is time to say goodbye. Of course this will be done just like we do it every year: A barbecue at the faculty!on the 19th of June you can hop by the garden of DKE to get some nicely roasted meat and a couple of tasty drinks.the barbecue itself will be 5 euros. This will cover all the food there.

The bar opens at 17:00 and beer will be of the same price as the BOBs (1,25 euros each). of course other drinks will be available as well.

Coding Contest

Do you think you’re the best programmer of DKE? Or do you just want to practice your coding skills, look at some interesting problems and have fun? Then the coding contest is for you!

The contest will last for a week (from Friday 30-05 until Friday 06-06) in which you can solve problems is three categories (easy, medium and hard) to earn points. There will be a help meeting (or join if you don’t need help, but just want to work together) on Tuesday 02-06 from 15h until 17h in the common room. Here you can ask all questions. Also, you can earn points with handing in your solutions (see the page for full details) and a leaderboard will be published daily. The person with the most points on Friday 06-06 wins the contest and will be announced in the common room at 15.30.

For the last time this year we will be raising our glasses to a new block. Saying goodbye to all to all the master students that will be leaving us, celebrating that you were able to get all the points for this year and maybe already looking forward to next year.

we will be doing all of this in the ancient clothing called the toga. So get out those bed sheets and be creative! (it might still be best to wear something underneath it)

Paintball

Have you ever wanted to shoot someone else from the faculty up?

On Saturday the 7th of June you can have your chance!

You’ll be able to shoot each other with paint filled bullets all you like.

We will be meeting at the on the east side of the train station at 12:00. The costs are 20 euros for memebers and 25 euros for non members. Extra ammo will cost you another 20 euros so be prepared to have some cash on you.

Cantus

It is yet again time for one of the more important events of the year. The annual cantus has always been an event for building comradeship, making new friends and having a good drink.

So I advice everyone to train their beer-muscles and singing voices, because this is gonna be a good one.

the entry price is 15 euros. this will cover all the beer you will drink throughout the entire night. Of course it is always allowed to drink liquids that are not beer. This may or may not be frowned upon though…

As we are starting the last lecture block it is time for another drink to keep us going through the year.

This time however, De Twee Heeren will not be a vocal point of our drink. This time we will be having a pub crawl, visiting some of the other pubs in Maastricht, finishing off at De Twee Heeren.

we will meet up at the Sint Amorsplein at 8pm (mind you, that is half an hour earlier than normal). You will then venture around multiple pubs, returning at De Twee Heeren around 11pm.
The drinks at De Twee Heeren will work as usual. The drinks at the other pubs however will have to be bought separately with real money.

If you do not feel like participating in this pubcrawl you are welcome to join us at De Twee Heeren at 11pm (if we finish really early we will pop a message on the event page)

Business Day

The annual Incognito Business Day will take place on Wednesday April 16. Entrance is free and lunch, drinks and dinner are included. The day will start at 10:00 in the Karl-Dittrichzaal (Student Service Centre, Bonnefantenstraat 2) and will last the full day.

This is your chance to see what your possibilities are after your studies. Representatives of three different companies which operate in the area of our study will give presentations and case studies about their company and the possibilities they offer.

This year, Coolblue (http://www.coolblue.nl/), Alten (http://www.alten.nl/en/) and SelfService Company (http://www.selfservicecompany.com/) will give a presentation and case study. Also, a PhD student will give a presentation about pursuing a PhD after your studies.

During an information market and a drink afterwards, you have the chance to get in personal contact with all companies and ask your questions directly.

Incognito strongly encourages all students to be there, since this is a perfect oppertunity to get insights in your own future!

Incognito is organizing the “DKE for Dummies” tutoring event.
The main goal of this event is to help out those of you who are struggling with the first year bachelor courses of block 4.
