MysteryLAN 2017: Bonus Edition

It’s time for the MysteryLAN again!

Due to the success of the last MysteryLAN in November, we decided to organise an extra, bonus MysteryLAN for another fun weekend of gaming!

On Friday February 10th, from 18:00 onwards, you are welcome to take part in the MysteryLAN for 3 days of GAMING! The event will last until Sunday afternoon, February 12th at with a prize ceremony for the champions.

During the event we will have several competitions (with a reward for the winner(s) of course!). The competitions are going to be for the following games:

– Overwatch
– Rocket League
– A Mystery Game – What could it be?

Of course participation in these competitions is not compulsory and you are free to play any game that you like at any time of the day! The goal of the weekend is to have fun with each other!

We have been working hard behind the scenes to make this LAN even better; you don’t need to bring your own internet cables and you don’t need to worry about the speed. In addition to that, the event will be hosted at CodePoKE’s awesome new location near the Markt.

The entrance fee for MysteryLAN is €15 for members.

Double Guest Lecture – KafE Series: Lecture 0

Come join us for the first KafE lecture of the year! Each block, the education committee EduKatiE organizes a guest lecture covering intellectual topics usually pertaining to our study.

This time, we’re lucky enough to have two guest lecturers!
Caroline Calomme from UM’s Faculty of Law will open the evening with a short presentation about the faculty’s upcoming event regarding law and how it applies to technology.
This short presentation will be followed by our main lecturer, Pieter Collins of DKE. He will be presenting an introduction to functional programming, specifically in Haskell, covering all the differences between object-oriented programming and functional programming, and how languages like Haskell are fundamentally a different way of “thinking” in code.

This event will take place on a Wednesday, so don’t forget to bring your Incognito Member ID’s to get 20% off La Colombe’s entire menu all evening! See you there!

Game of Assassin

REGISTRATION CLOSES FRIDAY THE 28TH AT MIDNIGHT!

The Guild of Assassins is looking for new recruits to join their ranks. However, there is only one way to find out who is most worthy of this recognition: A massive game of sneaking, backstabbing and outright slaughter.

Incognito’s event committee, AKtiE, is running an assassination game from Tuesday November 1st until Friday November 25th. Every registered player will be given a target who they will have to kill by stabbing this target in the back with a plastic knife provided by us, thus proving that they are worthy of their spot in the guild. However, if you yourself get killed, you are out of the game and are not able to join back in. The winner of the game will be the last recruit standing or, in the case that by the deadline multiple people have avoided death’s grasp, the player still alive with the highest kill count will take the trophy.

We highly advise you to read through the rules since they are quite extensive.

MysteryLAN 2016

It’s time for the MysteryLAN again!

On November 25th, 18:00, we will open the gates to the MysteryLAN, for three days of GAMING! We will finish the event on November 27th with the prize ceremony where the new formed champions will receive their well earned trophies!

In order to keep the gaming gods pleased (and keep the electricity and internet running!) we require an offering of €15,00 for members and €20,00 for non-members! (grants entrance to the event for the entire weekend)

During the event we will have several competitions (of course with a reward for the winner(s)!). The competitions are going to be for the following games:

-Super smash bros

-Trakmania

Of course participation in these competitions is not mandatory and you are free to play any game that you like at any time of the day! The goal of the weekend is to have fun with each other!

On both the background and foreground we have been working hard to present you the next edition of the MysteryLAN!

With new purchased hardware we can hook you up to a 1Gbit LAN connection and better network management.

We will now also supply you with an internet cable! No longer the need to bring your own!

Welcome to DKE!

We would like to welcome everyone (back) to university! It’s the start of a new year, so let’s make it a great one!

As some of you are new, here’s some practical information:

-We try to organise as many events as possible. You’ll be updated on the events through our Facebook page, the Facebook groups, posters in DKE, this very website, and e-mail.

-The first event coming up is Block Opening Drink 1, which will happen on Wednesday the 7th of September, at La Colombe, from 20.30 onwards. Find more info here. Hope to see everyone there!!!

-If you’re ever struggling with any courses, feel free to send an e-mail to edukatie@msvincognito.nl. We can try to help you out. We also organise tutoring sessions once every block, usually the week before the exam. Info on that will follow.

-We have a Wiki! It has a lot of information on courses, some old exams or summaries of courses, etc. It is currently in the process of being updated, but remains usable!

-If you’re interested in becoming a member, you can fill out the form here

-We’re changing book shops this year! Instead of the online webshop, we’ll now have physical book sales in the common room of Bouillonstraat. If you miss these for any reason, you can get the books at Dominicanen in the center! For more information, click here. The book sale will start next week!

-If you’re considering joining any of our committees, send an e-mail to the one you want to join! You’ll be invited for their next meeting, so that you can see if you like it.

Board game night; last of the year

Incognito will host the last Board Game Night of this year on Wednesday June 15th, starting at 20:00. It will again take place at the office of CodePoKE at Maasboulevard 1, on the first floor.

We encourage you all to bring your favourite board games or request someone to bring them in this Facebook event.

You are allowed to take your own snacks and drinks, but please clean up after yourselves. Also, we will be selling drinks for €1,50 for 1 or €5 for 4.

Career Day – Maastricht Week Of Entrepreneurship

As said before, this year’s career day (Click to go to the Facebook event) is organized in collaboration with the Maastricht Week of Entrepreneurship. Here is a word from them about the other events that week:

Block Openings Drink 5: Incognito Birthday Bash

Last week Incognito celebrated its 22nd birthday, and the new block is coming up. Two reasons to have a drink together to start off the block as Incognito hosts Block Openings Drink 5: Incognito Birthday Bash, Wednesday 6 April at 20:30.

As usual, the drink is held upstairs at Café De Twee Heeren. When you enter the café throught the right entrance there’s a door directly to your right which will take you upstairs. If you can’t find it, you can always ask the personnel for help. The drink will start at 20:30.

Drinks, as usual, will be €1,50 for 1 and €5 for 4. Note that you can use the tokens from previous events as well.

It’s time for another MysteryLAN! Here you get a chance to show off your epic and nerdy game skills during a weekend full of gaming! This weekend starts on Friday after the lectures and we will start cleaning up Sunday in the afternoon.

The subscription fee for the LAN party is:

Archery

It will once again be time to release your inner Legolas when Incognito hosts an archery event on February 24th 2016!

The event will take place at Brusselseweg 700 and begins at
20:00, although we ask you to be present 10/15 minutes in advance so we can start well on time. It is an indoor event so don’t worry about the weather.

Please note that it is about 4 km from the city centre and it is hard to reach by public transport, so we advise you to come by bike or car. For those interested, we will depart from Koningin Emmaplein at 19:30 sharp.

You want to participate but have no knowledge of archery whatsoever? Fear not! Instructions will be given (also in English) before we start playing and there will be plenty of instructors to help you.

Prices are €7,00 for members and €8,00 for non-members for the whole night (about 2,5 hours). Also, drinks will be available for purchase for €1,50 and minisnacks (M&Ms and such) for €0,30.

Block Openings Drink 4: Character dress-up

Come join us for the fourth block openings drink of this year! It will take place on February 17.

The theme of this drink is “character dress-up”, so dress up as your favourite character from a movie, (comic) book, television series, etc. Awards will be given to the best costume!

This week in Incognito

This week, week 2 of block 3, Incognito will host three events.

On Monday, we will watch the movie Her at the Tapijnkazerne, starting at 19:00. You can bring your own snacks and drinks.

On Wednesday we will have another Board Game Night, as always at the office of CodePoKE at Maasboulevard 1. It will start at 20:30. Please bring your own games!

Block Openings Drink 3.0: New Year’s Drink!

To celebrate the new calendar year, Incognito would like to invite all of you to our block opening drink on Wednesday January 6th 2016! It starts at 21:00 at Café De Twee Heeren where we always host our block opening drinks.

However, this is not just any drink as we will be adhering to a semi-formal dresscode. So dress up accordingly, say goodbye to 2015 and say hello to 2016 with your fellow students. Appropriate drinks will also be served 😉

Drinks will be €5 for 4 or €1,50 for 1, as always. We will be upstairs in the Café, which you can reach by taking the door on the right when you enter or via behind the bar. You can always ask the personnel if you are lost.

Board Game Night 3.0

Bring your favourite boardgames and play them with your fellow students as Incognito organizes the third Board Game Night of the year on December 2nd starting at 20:00. The location is, as usual, the office of CodePoKE at Maasboulevard 1 on the first floor.

We will be selling drinks (4 for €5, 1 for €1,50) but you are more than free to take your own drinks and snacks.

We encourage you to post in this event which games you are bringing and/or which games you would like others to bring.

Secret of Monkey Island

The Secret of Monkey Island. Men and women have asked themselves countless times: what is it? Incognito will give you daring adventurers the chance to resolve the mystery that is the Secret of Monkey Island on Wednesday 25 November from 20:30 to 23:00 in the gym located at Gentiaanstraat 3, Maastricht. Note that this is NOT any of the gyms we have gone to before.

You will have to jump, run, evade, throw, catch, climb, (fall?) and generally show off your superb agility in order to get closer to the truth that is hidden within. In the past, this event has been referred to as ‘monkey business’ or ‘apenkooien’ in Dutch.

We ask you to pay an entrance fee of €3 in case you are a member of Incognito and €5 if not. In return, we will provide the necessary snacks and drinks to guide thee on thy lofty quest.
